'PocketSprung Presents': 2012-2013 Cabaret Season
Artistic Brief for writer's submissions
PocketSprung are looking for writers to submit work for consideration for performance at the 2012-2013 PocketSprung Presents Cabaret Evenings. These events are held monthly in Hull and act as a showcase for musicians, singers, comedians and actors to come together and create an evening of 1940s themed entertainment and then share it with an audience!
The Cabaret evenings aim to be a fun evening out, but also a chance for performers and practitioners to share their creativity and passion with each other and an audience. The PocketSprung team provide logistical and technical support and this year are bringing together an ensemble of actors to introduce more performance sections to create a more cohesive and entertaining evening and offer writers and actors opportunities to practice and develop their craft .
And so...
We Need Writers!
We are inviting submissions of poetry, monologues/duologues and short plays for consideration for performance at a Cabaret evening. The only criteria is that the pieces must be inspired by the 1940s in some way: whether that be the tragedy of war, the uplifting freedom of peace, the films, music and fashion of the time, or perhaps even personal stories...
This opportunity is unpaid, but aims to provide a performance arena for writers to have their work staged by a new and exciting company.
